Geese in flight by sharis snaps on Flickr.
By the age of 23, she was older than most. This was not her own judgment, but that of others, who had been telling her since her age had held only a single digit that she had the wisest eyes they’d ever seen, that she had a soul for the ages. So though she spent her time doing the things she believed were appropriate for people her age, secretly she was also searching, scanning the faces she passed on those dirty city streets, hoping to find eyes equally old framed by a face still untouched by age, but the longer she searched, the more she worried she was one of very few in this world, and that she would be searching for those wise eyes for a very, very long time. And the thought crossed her mind that maybe, just maybe, the reason her soul was so aged was because it had already spent lifetimes looking for them.
